What We Do

Since WILPF’s establishment in 1915, we have brought together women from around the world, and from around Australia, who are united in working for peace by non-violent means and promoting political, economic and social justice for all.

WILPF envisions a world free from violence and conflict, in which human rights are protected, and women and men are equally empowered and involved
in positions of leadership at the local, national and international levels.

WILPF’s strategic plan for 2018-2021 is underpinned by WILPF’s mission, principles, manifesto, international programme, and organisational structure.

The integrated approach of WILPF aims at making a practical contribution by strengthening the action of women human rights activists and linking the issues of women, peace and security to instruments that are already well known and widely used, such as the Convention Against all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), Beijing Platform of Action (BPfA) and other relevant human rights and disarmament conventions and standards.

With the integrated approach, WILPF’s aims and actions can be placed under three broad (and overlapping) pillars.

Much of WILPF Australia’s work is undertaken through its Branches.
